Blue Machine ready for UK

Julius ‘Blue Machine’ Indongo’s confidence was rattled by Terence Crawford about five years ago, and this is something he’s been working on since that disappointing night.

WINDHOEK

Former WBA, IBO and IBF world champion Julius ‘Blue Machine’ Indongo has his sights set on nothing but success as he prepares for a big fight in the United Kingdom.

The boxer is set to come up against Mike Kean in a non-title fight in England.

The Namibian - who once upon a time reigned supreme in the super lightweight division - saw his career plummet after a defeat at the hands of Terence Crawford in a four-belt unifier bout in 2017.

Fighting under AC Boxing Promotion, Indongo has shown glimpses of his old self in several fights, though he is yet to claim a major title after his famous defeat in the USA in August 2017.

The local fighter, who had been undefeated in all his fights up until that point – was never the same after that ill-fated night.

Indongo, who also spent several months in America fighting, is currently in Namibia and preparing for his next fight.

“I have always been a hard worker in the gym and I make sure that I am ready when there happens to be a fight available.

“As a boxer, I feel that I am on my way to make a good recovery because my body has shown signs that I am back to my best again.

“I will be travelling to the UK with my eyes on nothing but a victory because that will be the only way I will actually be able to bounce back,” he said.

Working hard

The boxer currently has a record of 23 wins and four losses to his name, with 12 of the victories coming by knockout.

First turned professional in 2009, in his first fight, he beat Pohamba Mandume.

He went on to once again beat Mandume in his second career fight in a rematch which marked his arrival on the professional boxing scene.

Indongo secured 22 victories before his first ever defeat which involved four world title belts, namely the WBA, WBC, IBO and IBF titles.

“He has really been working hard and I am confident in what he can pull off in the UK,” Immanuel ‘AC’ Moses said.

“Indongo is a strong lad who just had a difficult time after the Crawford fight.

“Many felt that the fight was just too soon for him and that was proven when he stepped in the ring.”
