Bid and win for rhinos
Windhoek resident Stefan Schoeman (24) was last week's highest bidder in the exciting online auction of two pairs of rhino socks weekly and won a case of Windhoek Lager for his efforts.
His winning bid was N$950 for the socks, which are being auctioned to the benefit of Save the Rhino Trust (SRT) Namibia.
Schoeman simply loves botthms funky socks, which is former Namibian national rugby captain Renaldow Bothma's brand.
The socks, valued at N$700 per pair, are stylish and in fashion.
Schoeman's sister Xandri Schoeman received the socks and beer on his behalf at Namibia Media Holdings (NMH). Supermodel and SRT Namibia ambassador Behati Prinsloo is also the proud owner of a pair of rhino socks. On top of this, she is appearing on a massive Times Square billboard in New York this week, along with the SRT Namibia logo. Two pairs of botthms socks featuring rhinos and beer mugs are being auctioned weekly until 31 October. The reserve price in N$299. The auctions begin every Friday at 05:00 and close on Thursdays at 12:00.
You can bid by going to https://auction.my.na/save_the_rhino/14429 and remember that you win a free case of Windhoek Lager with every winning bid. Donations in aid of the rhino conservation can also be made.
A rhino-meter indicates how much has been collected so far.
Today there are less than 5 000 black rhinos left in the wild. This endangered species is regularly targeted by poachers. If rhino poaching continues at the current tempo, this iconic animal will be wiped out in the next 10 years. SRT Namibia protects the last of these animals in the wild in the northwest of Namibia.
