Barthés Trophy squad named

A 25-man squad has been selected for the under-20 Barthés Trophy tournament.
The team will participate in the tournament in Nairobi, Kenya, from 26 June until 4 July.
The tournament was initially scheduled to take place from 25 March until 4 April, but was postponed due to the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic. Apart from Namibia, Kenya, Senegal and Madagascar will also participate in the tournament.
Trials were conducted on 20 February, which saw a group of 35 players, with five reserves, being selected. From 3 May to 8 May, a training camp was held in Windhoek to assess the players’ fitness and match readiness.
Opperman picks final men
Two practice matches were played against Wanderers and Rehoboth rugby clubs. After the final match, the head coach of the team, Jood Opperman, made his final selection.
A further six players were also selected as the official reserves in case any player gets injured before departure.
