Ann Singer booked to perform at Lake Malawi

RnB and Afro-fusion artist Ann Singer has been selected to grace the Lake of Stars Festival 2018 taking place from 28 to 30 September on the shores of Lake Malawi.

The event is the centrepiece of Lake of Stars 15th anniversary celebrations, which have already begun with a successful 2000-capacity event in Malawi's former capital city highlighting women in the arts, and will continue with a range of events running throughout 2018 in Malawi and the UK.

Ann Singer will perform alongside Malawian, regional, and international acts, with the aim of the organisers to encourage collaboration between performers and with local cultural practitioners and organisations. The line-up announcements are yet to be made, but as usual, a diverse range of performers from Africa and Europe, alongside some of the finest talents in Malawi can be anticipated.

Lake of Stars is however not able to fund flights or travel to Malawi, but they will arrange artist transport to and from the festival. The multi award-winning Singer told tjil that performing on such a platform will elevate her career. She is, however, in need of sponsorship to make the trip a reality.

“This opportunity is very rare, because it will be the very first time that Namibia will have representation at this event and I also will perform alongside Malawian, regional, and international acts. Not only will I learn so much and come back home to share with fellow Namibians, I will also meet and network with many music professionals and musicians from all over the world,” she told tjil.

Singer says she would love to represent Namibia at the festival and is currently trying to get funds together. Anyone who can assist her can email [email protected] or by calling 0813944756.
