An AC Boxing and Fitness Gym event saw some of Namibia’s top prospects baptised to the world of professional boxing in style.
Filled with drama and some incredible displays, the night will, however, be remembered for buoyant Flame ‘Special One’ Nangolo’s remarks.
The 20-year-old, who remains undefeated after five professional fights, reiterated his and the entire AC gym’s hunger to prove a point to top promoter Nestor ‘Sunshine’ Tobias.
Nangolo, who was ecstatic after his convincing third-round technical knockout (TKO) of Gustav Petrus, said: “I am calling out the MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing and Fitness Academy to come challenge us. They must come. I am going to hurt you”.
In other action on the night, veteran boxer Ebenestus Kaangundue suffered his seventh professional career defeat to Alfues ‘Mosquito’ Shaanika by a second round TKO.
Usko Rehabeam won his fight against Samuel Nakwafela, who made his professional debut in a baptism of fire, while Jakob Jakob beat Oiva Anwaama in the opening fight.
Robert ‘The One’ Ndalelwa made easy work of Nicanor Alwendo as the fight ended in the first round with a TKO by Ndalelwa.
Remember the name
One of the highlights of the night was the introduction of former street fighter Ruaan Rispel to professional boxing.
His quick movement and technical display in the ring made him seem like a pro boxer, and ignited the crowd.
Rispel took Andreas Endjala to the fourth round, torturing his fellow pro debutant with combinations and body shots.
Endjala could only hold on till the final round but was out even before the final bell as the referee stopped the fight in favour of the new kid on the block.
“This was a dream debut for me and I am so happy that I was able to win my first fight.
“I can only look forward to the future because I believe there is more to come from me.
“As a former street fighter, I would like to thank my coaches and sparring partners for making me the boxer I am today,” Rispel said.
