A-list personalities to feature in MTC Knockout project

A-list media personalities Robyn Nakaambo, Luis Munana, Kazembire Zemburuka and Maggy Mengo are lining up alongside other big names from different sectors to perform at the second edition of the MTC Knockout project.
Nakaambo will be performing as rapper Lioness, Munana as Hikwa pioneer Sunny Boy and Zemburuka and Mengo as the ‘Warakata’ hitmakers One Blood.
Aimed at addressing homelessness in Namibia, the concert is scheduled for Saturday, 3 October, at the National Theatre of Namibia in Windhoek.
The announcements were made by MTC through their social media platforms this morning.
Close to her heart
Speaking to tjil this afternoon, Nakaambo mentioned that an initiative like this means a lot to her. She added that in the past, the stigma attached to homelessness was that “they’re drunkards” or that “it’s their fault because they gamble too much”.
“But with the pandemic we are faced with, you start to realise that certain people are homeless not because they decided on it, but more so because of circumstances,” she said.
For a good cause
“Because of this pandemic, we have seen loved ones or people we know losing their jobs, or their salaries being cut, and these people then - not by choice - become homeless or basically lose their quality of life.
“So, I am excited to be part of this project because it is fighting for a good cause and strengthening humanity,” the award-winning media personality said.
Meanwhile, Munana took to his social media to write: “I will be performing two hit songs as Sunny Boy, any requests?”
