15 players scouted at regional champs
A group of 15 players were selected at the just-ended third edition of the Debmarine Namibia Senior Regional Netball Championship and will join a training group of 20 players, who will compete at the M1-M5 Nations Netball Cup in Singapore, to be played in October.
The group will start a training camp in two weeks to prepare for the competition.
Netball Namibia (NN) public relations officer Rebekka Goagoses said they have already selected 20 players for the training camp from the Pent Series, which took place last year, as well as the Diamond Cup which took place in South Africa.
They specifically asked that these specific players do not take part in the Debmarine championship, in order to give others a chance to be selected. Goagoses said the Debmarine champs was a success, with Omaheke winning the trophy after beating Omusati 31-16, dethroning Khomas for the first time as the overall winners.
Omaheke received N$30 000, while Omusati walked away with N$15 000 and Kavango East, who took third place, received N$9 000.
The selected players are: Toetsie Tjihero (Omaheke), Loide Hanyanya, Venjekerera Maharero, Levy Mauano, Mwale Mulenamaswe and Tilly Kamati (Khomas), Selma Shikukumwa (Kavango East), Aina Matias, Martha Shaambeni, Victoria Hasheele and Kakunandunda Murangi (Omusati), Valery Xaragas and Caroline Tjaveondja (Otjozondjupa) Evariza Haufiku and Taimi Sheelongo (Oshana).
