Leading an all-women's team
Business development manager for Stanlib Namibia, Zandria Venter, develops the institutional and corporate distribution networks.
Landing a managerial role at Stanlib has given Venter the privilege to lead a high-performance, driven team while learning each day. Having been promoted to business development manager within one year at Stanlib Namibia, she is leading her team and building the Stanlib Namibia brand swiftly.
"I learn so much from my team members every day. We are all dynamic and can pick up where the other one left off," she said.
Education
Venter was born and raised in Windhoek. She matriculated in 2013 at the Windhoek Gymnasium Private School and graduated from North West University in 2016 with a BCom law degree.
Thereafter, she started her first job in the financial industry in 2017 as a trainee wealth manager at PSG Wealth Management Namibia.
"That is where my passion for the financial industry really developed," she said.
In 2018, she completed her stock broking examinations and then obtained a postgraduate diploma in business administration at the University of Namibia (Unam).
Lastly, Venter completed her postgraduate diploma in financial planning at the University of the Free State in 2020.
She then joined Stanlib Namibia in April 2020 where she qualified as a certified financial planner in 2021.
Growth
Having grown within the industry, Venter has observed some challenges.
The most challenging thing is being able to build new relationships.
"Getting someone to believe in your product and to trust you is a challenge. In Namibia, it is all about relationships, and as youngsters in the industry, it is difficult to start with no relationships," she says.
However, Venter says that working with her team of "passionate ladies, our presence is being felt in the market."
Measuring success
"I measure success by way of satisfaction, effort, and a positive attitude. I will always go the extra mile to give my best. I will do everything with integrity and trust to reach a goal or complete a task. To measure success by way of satisfaction is difficult because I will always strive to be better, but I've come to the conclusion that I can be satisfied and still pursue more. I think it is good to feel satisfied with my results as it is a celebration of small victories along the way," says Venter.
She aims to continue leading the all-women’s distribution team at STANLIB, to further her studies, and to encourage her team to never stop studying.
Quoting Nelson Mandela, she says "education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."
Venter intends to continue to climb the corporate ladder by making use of all the available opportunities.
She advises young professionals to shine their light brightly, and to motivate and encourage others to do exactly the same.
"You are not going to go forward by yourself. Ask for help and be a sponge for information. Someone has been where you are, the best way to learn is to ask for advice and help."
