Unam law students step up
Generous donation after break-in
The donation includes a printer, toner, copy paper, books and stationery.
Final-year law students from the University of Namibia (Unam) have shown remarkable generosity by donating essential items to Dr Abraham Iyambo Primary School. This initiative is part of their impact project under the Grotius Law Firm, a pseudo law firm where students handle real-life cases.
The donation includes a printer, toner, 31 packs of copy paper, 210 soft cover books, 110 hard cover books, 205 pencils, 240 pens, three netball balls, three soccer balls, 17 reading books, 22 bags of chips, and 10 bags of lollipops. This substantial contribution will undoubtedly aid the school, which has recently faced significant challenges following a break-in that resulted in the loss of many of its essential learning materials.
A generator, camera gear, computers, printers and more were stolen during the incident.
Principal Flora Petrus expressed gratitude for the support received so far and is appealing for additional donations to help the school continue its learning activities during this difficult time.
The law students received sponsorship from Kleine Professor College, valued at almost N$1 700. Additionally, the reading books, valued at N$1 400, were also a significant part of the donation.
Group leader Lelan Beukes said: "We have been working alongside the school for quite some time and had bigger plans, but these plans changed once the school was broken into. We decided to provide immediate aid to help the school recover from this unfortunate incident".
