The World Championships will mark the first time 23-year-old Patricia Coetzee travels overseas.

“I am super excited but also very nervous to travel so far. I have never been outside of Namibia, and for my first time to be because of singing is quite amazing to me,” she said.

Coetzee has always loved singing but didn’t start taking it seriously until the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020. Two years later, she began competing in competitions, which have boosted her self-confidence and helped her become the performer she is today.

“Besides the actual competition, I am looking forward to the tour of Universal Studios,” Coetzee said.

Coetzee will be performing several songs in different genres to showcase her voice.

To prepare for the event, she took many extra voice lessons. She thanked her parents for their financial and emotional support, and her vocal coach, Alinda Lu'Mar, for helping her get ready.
