Oshana takes the win at the Namport National debates
Three Gabriel Taapopi Secondary School learners participated in the annual Namport debate competition that took place from 30 September to 5 October that took place at Namport's new terminal in Swakopmund. The three learners, Ndayola Mulangeni, Naomi Shakungu and Sylvia Amakali, formed one of the two teams that the Oshana region sent to participate against teams from the 13 other regions. Their team was dubbed "Team B".
The official opening of the debate, the welcoming remarks and the first three rounds took place on 1 October. Team B left with a sense of pride - entirely undefeated by the end of the day. Without losing a single round, they progressed to the finals where they faced off against a team from the Oshikoto region. After a grueling debate session, they walked away with a victory and a cash prize of N$5 000 for each of the debators.
Additionally these proud representatives from the Oshana region took home N$500 000 for the improve improvement of their region. "It was a really tough and heated round," said Naomi Shakungu, continuing, "The win was well-deserved." Shakungu is considered by her teammates to be the best speaker on Team B.
