Naartjies vs Wolfs

On the 19 April, Pro-Ed Akademie and Walvis Bay Private High School (WBPHS) held their annual school interhigh. This year, WBPHS hosted it at their school. An interhigh is when two schools compete in different sports to see who the “better” school is.

On the Friday, the high school hockey, primary school netball, rugby, and chess took place. Since it was the first day, there were not a lot of people, but the spirit was definitely still there. Each learner cheered for their school as they were playing. When the first team hockey girls and boys started playing, the tension became higher and higher. The wolves did not disappoint and showed their spirit.

The Saturday was the official opening of the interhigh. The day started with an opening from the WBPHS principal. He then gave Mr. Christiaan and a few other people the chance to share a few words. The two schools each got the opportunity to chant a few songs that they practiced. The Wolves started and shouted their hearts out. The Naartjies then also sang a few songs. The tension was high, and all you could hear was the echo of each school singing. After the singing, both school team captains of all the first teams got the opportunity to introduce their team. After that, both schools sang a few more songs, and the two mascots had a little boxing match. Obviously, Alpha won.

Most of the sports took place that day. All the netball, rugby, archery, and primary school hockey took place. When it was time for the first team netball, all the pavilions were filled with learners from both the schools. The match ended with a draw. After the match, it was time for what everyone was waiting for...the rugby. The pavilion was even more full than it was at the netball. Everyone was watching the game, and both the schools sang at the top of their voices. The match was intense and had everyone on their toes. The rugby boys played their hearts out, but unfortunately there could only be one winner. The wolf pack took the win. That was the last item for the day, and each learner definitely had fun. The interhigh was a success.
