MDPS sports day a great success

On the 28 September, six private schools in the Oshana Region attended a sports day hosted by Maurits Devenish Private School.

Learners came to play and have fun in the action-packed sports matches.

The learners participated in netball, soccer, volleyball and tag rugby, showcasing their skills.

Netball star player Maria Shemuketa from Maurits Devenish Private School, known for her pinpoint accuracy in shooting, helped her team dominate the competition, earning the best player of the day title.

Parents cheered loudly in response to the impressive work displayed by the players.

”The synergy during the netball matches was incredible!” commented Venia Matome, a learner at Maurits Devenish Private School.



Incredible teamwork

The two winning tag rugby teams, Team Lighthouse Academy and Team Maurits Devenish, led by their captains, emerged victorious after the thrilling battles – it was indeed about teamwork.

Mrs Salomy Basson, the scorekeeper, said the learners were chanting and rallying behind their teams, creating an electric atmosphere.

The soccer matches between under-14 teams were outstanding, and the teams shone brightly. The teams displayed great skills and were equally matched.

Last but not least, Maurits Devenish Private School’s volleyball star player Sean Chembe led his team to victory in the nail-biting battle, with all teams displaying incredible teamwork.

“The energy from the crowed made it even better,” Simon said.

The atmosphere throughout the event was just "everything,” with all the learners, parents and teachers cheering on their teams while enjoying various snacks.

All in all, the day was a great success, leaving learners and parents eagerly anticipating next year’s sports day, aiming to build on this year’s achievements.
