Cupid's Ball: Was it worth a hundred dollars?

On 16 February, Delta Secondary School Windhoek (DSSW) held its annual Cupid's Ball – was it worth attending?

It was organised by our LRC, and on Valentine's Day, they offered a special deal on tickets: two for N$100.

The Deltarians interviewed had mixed opinions. The event started at 16:00 and ended at 19:00. There were performances by Ms. Gideon, Yeezir and a band called Nova Aural. Our head boy, Domingos Barros, performed with the band as a guitarist and pianist. Sargent, also known as Aina Kamati, said: "The performances were out of this world, and the band's choice of music was good."

A tuckshop sold food and refreshments.

According to one attendee: "The tuckshop was full and the service could have been better."

Other Deltarians had a more positive view.

"The service was good, there were a variety of drinks, and the food was nice."

At the event, a new Mr and Miss Cupid were crowned: Mr Cupid of 2024 was Zenda Figura in grade 10, while our Miss Cupid was Ndinelao Ndjambula, also in grade 10.

The dance floor was on fire, as we had DJs playing a variety of music. Attendees had mixed opinions, like Usa Uusiku, who said, "The song choice was wrong for a ball. I expected more jazz than Amapiano." Others, like Kirsten, a grade 10 learner, commented that "the vibe was there, music was good, everything played was good."

According to most people, like Star, also a grade 10 learner, "the ball was well organised and put together; it was better than last year's." So the choice is up to you: was the Cupid's Ball really worth a hundred dollars? You would have to answer that question yourself.
