Visitors gathered in eager anticipation at this year's Namibia Tourism Expo to witness the launch of the ground-breaking Best of 061 Express Followers Choice Awards 2024.

Spearheaded by Hennie Geldenhuys, chief marketing officer for Synergi Marketing Namibia and South Africa, the launch marked a significant milestone in recognising and celebrating excellence within Windhoek and beyond.

Speaking at the launch, Geldenhuys expressed his gratitude to the attendees and underscored the importance of acknowledging the outstanding contributions of businesses, both large and small, in the capital city. “In our vibrant city, we are privileged to witness an abundance of talent, dedication and excellence within our business community. Yet, it has become increasingly evident that many deserving entities

have yet to receive recognition for their contributions,” he said.

The Best of 061 Express Followers Choice Awards aims to bridge this gap by spotlighting remarkable businesses and inspiring others to strive for similar distinctions. With over 2 500 nominations received in the short span since the launch, the overwhelming response highlights the interest from the public to have their voices heard and choices recognised.

The nomination process, which began on 24 April, will span three weeks, inviting individuals from the community to nominate their preferred businesses across various categories. Using innovative channels such as the Synergi WhatsApp chatbot, the nomination and voting process will be inclusive and transparent, ensuring widespread engagement.

Geldenhuys emphasised the inclusive nature of the awards, stating: "Our categories have been crafted to include all facets of life in Windhoek, from living and DIY/home improvement to glamour, dining experiences, services, automotive, shopping, babies and kids, travel and leisure. Each category aims to capture the essence of excellence within our community".

How it works

Nominate businesses by following these simple steps:

1. Save the Synergi chatbot number: 085 785 6231.

2. WhatsApp #061express to the chatbot.

3. Follow the on-screen prompts to navigate the nomination categories.

4. Select the preferred businesses within each category and submit your nominations. Easy peasy!

When to vote

Following the nomination phase, voting will commence on 5 June, leveraging technology to facilitate public engagement and incentivise participation through exciting prizes, including a share of N$50 000 in cash.

Unparalleled visibility

At the launch, Geldenhuys revealed plans to expand the awards to other regions in Namibia, reflecting the commitment to recognise excellence across the Namibian landscape.

The success of the initiative hinges on a robust marketing campaign, promising unparalleled visibility and brand recognition for partners. With a projected reach of over one million followers across traditional and new media channels, Network Media Hub - via its community asset Windhoek Express - offers businesses an opportunity to elevate their profiles and align with excellence.

In light of this, Geldenhuys extended an invitation to all businesses to join in the celebration of excellence and community spirit. “Together, let us elevate Windhoek's business community to new heights of recognition and appreciation.” As the nomination phase unfolds and anticipation builds towards the announcement of winners, the Best of 061 Express Followers Choice Awards 2024 promises to be a celebration of excellence, unity and community spirit in Windhoek.
