Trade crucial for Namibia – Nandi-Ndaitwah

Trade and investment are crucial for Namibia's economic growth.

This according to deputy prime minister and international relations minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, who was speaking during the 2023 European Union-Namibia Business Forum in Brussels, Belgium.

"For Namibia, to address the ever-increasing global and development challenges which we are all currently facing, trade and investment have become more important for economic growth, employment creation, poverty reduction, and narrowing inequality.

“It is, therefore, important that moving forward with the EU- Namibia cooperation, both politically and economically, people must be at the centre of development," she said.

Nandi-Ndaitwah added that government is in the process of establishing Special Economic Zones, with a key focus on "incentivising manufacturing and processing".

"It is expected that these reforms will come into force during 2024. Similarly, our unwavering rule of law and the independence of the judiciary makes Namibia one of the prime destinations for safe investment," she said.
