Six robbers loot over N$50 000
Three people were assaulted and robbed of cash and a cellphone worth over N$50 000 by six suspects in Walvis Bay.
Namibian Police spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, confirmed the incident, which took place on Friday at around 16:00 in Narraville.
Three workers were selling meat from a Hino truck, which belongs to Klein Windhoek Schlachterei, when they were attacked by six suspects in a red Polo GTI who pretended to be customers.
"It is alleged that the suspects attacked the employees, and held the victims at gunpoint. It was further alleged that the suspects managed to get away with cash from the truck," she said.
In the process, a police patrol van arrived at the scene. The robbers fired at the police van and sped off. A pursuit was initiated, but the suspects managed to evade the police in the Kuisebmond area, Shiwambi said.
The suspects s to stole N$50 000 in cash as well as a Samsung Galaxy A12 worth N$3 500.
No recovery or arrests have been made. Police investigations continue.
Suspect shot during robbery
Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, one of four suspects was shot during a robbery on Saturday in Kuisebmond.
Shikwambi confirmed the incident, which took place at around 23:50.
"It is alleged two brothers were on their way home when they were attacked by four suspects with knives, who took their property."
A scuffle ensued, and one of the victims took out his firearm and shot one of the suspects, who wanted to stab him in the left leg.
The suspect sustained an injury to his leg and was found lying at the scene while the other three suspects fled. A cap and a silver necklace belonging to the victims was found at the scene next to the suspect.
The 21-year-old suspect was transported to the state hospital by members of the police. He is in a stable condition, and has since been arrested.
All items valued at N$1 100 were recovered.
