Rukoro shifts focus to Nudo presidency bid

Limba Mupetami
Barry Rukoro, the former Namibia Football Association (NFA) secretary-general, has announced his planned candidacy for the presidency of the National Unity Democratic Organisation (Nudo), marking a possibly significant career transition after nearly 14 years of leadership in the NFA.

If he successfully passes all vetting processes, Rukoro will compete against incumbent party president Esther Muinjangue and secretary-general Josef Kauandenge for the same position.

When approached for comment by Namibian Sun, Rukoro, with a chuckle, acknowledged the pressure from those sharing this information, suggesting they're making it hard for him to refuse the challenge.

He said a definitive decision on his possible candidacy would be made known within a week or two.

Meanwhile, Muinjangue has confirmed her intention to seek a second term as party president in the upcoming April intra-party elections. She aims to bolster Nudo's parliamentary representation, which currently stands at two seats in the National Assembly out of 104 and one seat in the National Council of Namibia out of 42.
