Ongwediva trade fair is back
The Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair (OATF) is back on after two years of postponement due to the Covid-19 pandemic which brought all activities in the country to a standstill.
The OATF is scheduled to take place from 26 August to 1 September at the Ongwediva Trade Fair Centre.
The event is Namibia’s largest, long-standing multi-sectional trade and business exposition hosted by the Ongwediva Trade Fair Society and the Ongwediva town council, in collaboration with various public and private stakeholders.
Town spokesperson Jackson Muma said the trade fair aims to promote trade and facilitate business interaction between various role players locally and internationally.
He added that at least 350 exhibitors from various economic sectors are expected to showcase their products and services on site, with an option of virtual exhibitions.
“The inclusion of the virtual exhibition platform cements the OATF’s objective of being a proactive force and a vehicle of Namibia’s economic growth by promoting quality products and services through technological evolution,” he said.
Smart economy
The virtual format is an alternative method of online exhibition, signifying the need to transform from a traditional way of conducting business to a modernised way of online business networking, hence the theme ‘Gearing for a Smart Economy’, he said.
Since it will be the first time the event is conducted in this hybrid format, Muma said the organising committee is excited to introduce the concept and set new trends in the exhibition industry in the country.
The virtual fair is a platform that helps organisations reach global audiences, and speaks to current realities dictated by various factors, including the ever-changing technological environment as well as reaching out to wider regional and international markets, Muma said.
Application for exhibitions have already opened. Forms are available on the OATF website, oatf.com.na, and exhibitors are encouraged to apply before 30 May.
