One 2023 baby delivered at the coast, more due
The new year saw a baby girl being delivered at the Walvis Bay State Hospital.
The first baby to be born at the coast this year was to proud parents Genoveve Gorases and Steven Seibeb. The little girl was delivered at midnight at the Walvis Bay State Hospital's maternity ward, weighing 1,95 kg.
"It is my first child. She is so small and beautiful and I am very happy," said an elated Genoveve.
According to the hospital, more babies are due to be delivered on New Year's day. No babies were due for delivery at the Welwitschia Private Hospital, Henties Bay, Usakos, Karibib or Omaruru state hospitals.
Baby boy Shafa-Tetanga-Kuku was the first Christmas Day baby. lina Jeremia (35) and Ananias Nambahu (36) are the proud parents of baby boy "Shafa" who was born at 04:20 at Walvis Bay State Hospital. Two babies were born at Swakopmund State Hospital. Panduleinge shikweyo (30) gave birth to a baby girl and Beata Monguvhi gave birth to a baby boy.
Last year (2021), the Walvis Bay State Hospital welcomed three babies (two girls and one boy) into the world on Christmas Day. A girl was born at Omaruru district hospital and another girl was born at Usakos district hospital. The Erongo Region welcomed 12 babies on Christmas Day, with the highest number of seven delivered in the Swakopmund State Hospital in 2020. A total of 16 babies were born on Christmas day, with the first one, a baby girl, delivered at around 00:23 at the Swakopmund State Hospital in 2019.
