Okahandja's 'Iron Lady' turns 101

A beloved resident of Okahandja, known as the town's 'Iron Lady', this week turned 101 years old. Lena Bezuidenhoudt celebrated her birthday on Tuesday, 11 June, surrounded by her descendants who extend into the fourth generation. While her memory is still good, her sight and hearing have weakened a little - but she can still move around, with a little help from her children.

Described by her family as a true Proverbs 31 woman, with her worth far above rubies and with a great sense of humor, Bezuidenhoudt's birthday was appropriately kicked off with delicious cake and tea.
