NWR’s Ngwangwama found in Auasblick
Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) managing director Matthias Ngwangwama, who was reported missing at around 19:00 on Wednesday evening, was found yesterday morning at 04:00 at an Auasblick hiking spot.
Spokesperson Nelson Ashipala said robbers took off with his phone and car, a Mercedes-Benz. “They left him with minor injuries. He is currently in hospital and recovering well.”
According to a police report, the 53-year-old Ngwangwama was working out when he was approached by two unknown men armed with knives. They tied him up and ordered him to hand over his belongings. He surrendered his cellphone and vehicle key, and the suspects disappeared into the bushes, the police said.
He sustained injuries when he crawled from the scene of the crime to the nearest road. According to the police, he was admitted to the Roman Catholic Hospital. “His condition is stable.”
Ashipala confirmed that the car has since been recovered in Katutura.
“[Ngwangwama] is currently in stable condition, and we are grateful that he was not physically harmed. We kindly request the public and media to respect [his] and his family's privacy during this difficult time.”
