NMH launches ‘Past Rebooted’ initiative

The initiative will see NMH approaching about 100 companies to record their history and establish how their past impacted their path to the present.
As part of its first initiatives that build up to the 2024 Namibia Tourism Expo, Namibia Media Holdings (NMH) last week launched its ‘Past Rebooted’ initiative.
The project is designed to tie in with the ‘Beyond Borders’ theme, which for the first time featured as part of the programme and workshops at this year’s expo.
On Friday morning, NMH hosted a number of business executives at Arebbusch Travel Lodge in Windhoek.
‘Past Rebooted’ focuses on existing Namibian business acumen that dates back to the humble beginnings of tradesmen like Herero chief Maharero kaTjamuaha and Nama chief Jan Jonker Afrikaner, who traded in cattle.
Recording history
The initiative will see NMH approaching about 100 companies to record their history and establish how their past impacted their path to the present.
The company also seeks to find out how these pillars of Namibian business approach and plan their future to tackle the next stage of their existence.
This again ties in with ‘Beyond Borders’, in that Namibia can showcase its existing industries and integrate these into neighbouring states’ networks.
Meanwhile, NMH CEO Albe Botha used the opportunity to introduce a diamond competition worth a massive N$100 000.
He urged Namibians to save the number 085 785 6231 not only to enter the competition, but also to access news simply and easily via WhatsApp.
“We want you to have convenient access to the news you want and will not bother you with all the news we have available,” he said.
Tourist of the Year
At the event, NMH also announced the winner of the Tourist of the Year competition, which saw Taimi Nuunyango walking away with a cool N$10 000.
A video of her experience at the Jackalberry Tented Camp earned her the prize. Her video – and those of the five other finalists – can be viewed on the Tourismus Namibia Facebook page.
