NamWater donates N$367 884 in stationery to 14 schools
NamWater, in collaboration with the Kavango East regional leadership, on Monday donated stationery supplies valued at N$367 884 to 14 schools in the region.
The contribution is set to alleviate resource shortages, creating a more conducive learning environment for both students and educators.
Kavango East Governor Bonifatius Wakudumo expressed his gratitude to NamWater, calling the donation a testament to the company's commitment to corporate social responsibility and the development of the country.
"NamWater’s dedication to supporting Namibia’s Vision 2030 is commendable. This investment not only aids individual learners but also contributes significantly to the broader national goals outlined in the Harambee Prosperity Plan II and the National Development Goals. This donation isn’t just about providing stationery – it’s a strategic investment in the future of our nation," Wakudumo said.
He further noted that NamWater’s corporate social investment plan reflects a thoughtful approach to addressing societal needs.
"By equipping our youth with the tools they need to succeed, NamWater is empowering them to become contributors to our country's development. Beyond the immediate benefits, this donation will contribute to the long-term prosperity of our society, demonstrating the positive outcomes that can be achieved through collaboration," he added.
The governor urged continued investment in education, emphasising that it remains key to transforming lives and building a prosperous future for all Namibians.
Investing in the future
NamWater CEO Abraham Nehemia highlighted that the company’s corporate social investment policy is deeply rooted in its commitment to the country’s development goals, aligning closely with its strategic plan.
"We are aware that the Kavango East Region has one of the highest poverty rates in Namibia, with a 70% incidence of multidimensional poverty. Regions like Kavango West and Kunene face similar challenges, and rural areas, where poverty is at 59.3%, are particularly affected. This impacts families and, most importantly, the education of our children," Nehemia said.
"Investing in education is investing in future leaders, innovators and professionals who will drive Namibia’s development. We are proud to advance educational opportunities in Kavango East through this initiative," Nehemia said.
He added that the donation represents more than a handover of supplies but also reaffirms NamWater’s dedication to growth, development and empowerment within communities.
"Through this support, we aim to nurture the next generation of leaders, future hydrologists, engineers and CEOs who will help drive the country’s progress and ensure the continuous supply of quality water," he said.
