MTC forks out N$1.8m
News in short
Last week, MTC awarded 30 employees with financial support ranging from N$30 000 to N$60 000 under its employee appreciation programme.
The funds will go towards financing employees’ ‘side hustles’ while still employed at the telecommunications giant.
“The programme’s intention is to create a sustainable value chain for MTC ambassadors, help with job creation and demonstrate MTC’s values,” the company said in a press statement. The project, which was launched in 2021, has seen MTC spend N$3.3 million on financial support so far. Employees who applied for funding were required to submit a detailed business and project plan, and go through several presentations to win over an evaluation committee. The applications totalled 69 - four for a social cause, three in talent and 62 in entrepreneurship.
“We are saying to you that we are not satisfied with you just working for MTC until you go out there and live your dreams. This project is aimed to make you live more than just what you do at MTC,” chief human capital officer, Tim Ekandjo, said.
