MTC donates to Otjiwarongo police
News in short
MTC this week announced a donation of equipment to police in Otjiwarongo. The donation, valued at N$65 000, included reflective jackets, a generator, extension reels, traffic cones, folding chairs and tables, and rubber torches, among other things.
The donation was made in light of Namibia's concerning number of motor vehicle accidents, MTC corporate affairs manager John Ekongo said.
“Due to the detriment nature of road carnage and following our constant engagement with the Motor Vehicle Accident [MVA] Fund on road safety, we have resolved to aid the Namibian traffic department as the authority tasked with the crucial role to enforce traffic laws. Each year, we lose loved ones in road crashes, and each life lost is a life too many. Thus, any form of support towards achieving a zero record of fatalities on our roads is invaluable,” he said.
Otjozondjupa regional commander, Commissioner Heinrich Tjiveze, thanked MTC for the donation, adding that it would help his team be more visible in the region.
