#JustIn: Water under pressure at Omuthiya
A pipe break on the Okatope-Omuthiya pipeline earlier this morning cut off water supply to Omuthiya, affecting customers from Okatope to Omuthiya and surrounding areas in the Oshikoto region.
According to NamWater, technicians have completed the repairs and water flow has recommenced. However, a slow flow of water is expected until normal supply is fully restored.
NamWater said the disruption is caused by the aging infrastructure of the 42-year-old pipeline, which has numerous offtakes compromising its structural integrity.
“NamWater has prioritised replacing the most problematic sections of the South East pipeline, starting with the first phase inaugurated by Hon. Calle Schlettwein, minister of agriculture, water and land reform, on 28 June 2024,” the company said.
