Health ministry receives N$500 000 media equipment donation
Last week, the health ministry received multi-media equipment worth N$500 000 from the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
"On behalf of the health ministry, I wholeheartedly accept this invaluable gift and express our deepest appreciation to the CDC for their unwavering support," Taimi Amaambo, deputy executive director at the health ministry, said.
She was speaking on behalf of executive director Ben Nangombe.
"This momentous occasion marks a significant milestone in our journey towards improving public health communication. The media equipment we receive today serves as a catalyst for innovation, collaboration and positive change," Amaambo said.
"With these state-of-the-art tools at our disposal, we are equipped to deliver impactful health messages to our communities with greater clarity and effectiveness."
The equipment includes state-of-the-art video and photo cameras as well as sound equipment.
Information sharing
Amaambo said the equipment will also aid in advancing public health information through relevant content creation for this purpose.
"I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the CDC for recognising the importance of media resources in advancing public health," she said.
"Your commitment to strengthening our partnership and investing in our ministry's capacity will undoubtedly make a lasting impact on the well-being of our nation."
The ministry vowed to use the equipment to amplify its outreach efforts, engage with communities and educate and empower individuals to make informed decisions about their health.
CDC Namibia Country Director Brian Baker said the American government prides itself on the partnership it has formed with the ministry.
"Over the years, we have worked together on numerous public health messaging campaigns that have helped improve healthcare outcomes in the country," Baker said.
