Gibeon village council chairperson Sharon Bezuidenhout has confirmed that the council was yesterday approved for a N$5 million annual budget, after a recent uproar that the local authority was only allocated N$3 000 for its development budget.

Urban and rural development minister Erastus Uutoni told Namibian Sun this week that the N$3 000 was to keep the council’s bank account ‘active’ after its leadership failed to submit its developmental budget to the ministry, as is procedure.
