The recent launch of namcca.com, the official website for the DStv Namibia Content Creators Awards 2024 (NAMCCA), has been met with widespread enthusiasm and excitement.

Spearheaded by Pinehas ‘Zulu Boy’ Shikulo, the initiative aims to spotlight and celebrate the digital talent flourishing in Namibia. With a strategic partnership with DStv Namibia, the awards promise to provide a significant boost to the country's content creators.

The launch of the website has been positively received, marking a pivotal moment for Namibian digital talent. The new platform is designed to serve as a central hub for content creators and their supporters, offering a streamlined process for nominating your faves. Visitors to namcca.com can easily select the 'Nominate' option and choose from various categories, including Content Creator of the Year, Fashion and Lifestyle Award, and Foodie Award.

Celebration of creativity and innovation

Speaking to tjil, Shikulo mentioned that nominations are open until Friday, 9 August, allowing ample time for the public to participate and support their favourite digital stars.

“On 31 August, the nominees will be announced at Ster Kinekor Grove Mall. This event will mark the beginning of a public voting period, accompanied by workshops that will continue up to the main awards ceremony in November.

“This structure not only builds anticipation, but also engages the community in a celebration of creativity and innovation,” Shikulo added.

On the partnership with DStv Namibia, he shared that it has been a significant enhancement to the platform. Offering increased visibility, DStv aligns to the organisers' commitment to showcase local talent and content creation, he said. “This collaboration elevates Namibian creators on both national and international stages, offering them an unprecedented opportunity to shine.”

Crucial element

The award ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, 9 November, at the National Theatre of Namibia. This prestigious event will bring together the country’s top digital talents, celebrating their contributions to the industry. Shikulo stressed that public participation remains a crucial element throughout the nomination and voting process, as it helps identify and celebrate content creators who resonate with audiences.

“This involvement fosters a sense of community and support for local talent, ultimately strengthening the content creation industry in Namibia.”

For aspiring nominees, the awards offer a unique opportunity to gain recognition and celebrate their creative work. The platform aims to inspire as well as acknowledge the diversity and innovation inherent in Namibian content creators, encouraging them to be part of a growing community that values storytelling and creativity.
