Cabinet blesses Kahimise’s ECB move
News in short
Cabinet has sanctioned the Electricity Control Board’s (ECB) plans to appoint Robert Kahimise as its CEO for the next five years.
He is currently the CEO of regional distributor Cenored.
Following a protracted recruitment process, which was marred by allegations of some applicants being sidelined, the board submitted its recommendation to mines minister Tom Alweendo, who green-lighted the move yesterday.
Should the appointment go ahead as planned, Kahimise will have managed to fend off competition from former Erongo RED boss Fessor Mbango, current Nored head Fillemon Nakashole, Nelson Sheya and Elron Awase.
ECB’s acting CEO Pinehas Mutota was also one of the applicants, but he was not shortlisted.
The electricity utility company has been without a substantive head since the death of its former CEO Foibe Namene at the start of August 2021.
Local recruitment agency Vision Consultancy was hired to spearhead the process.
