Boots on the ground yield results for Oshana
• Criminal activity decreases in region
Over the festive season, tickets worth N$1.8 million were issued to 1 924 traffic law violators in the Oshana Region.

Oshana regional police commander, Commissioner Naftal Lungameni Sakaria, says their festive campaign yielded good results and saw a decrease in criminal activities in the region.
On 16 November 2022, the police launched a festive season campaign for Oshakati, Ondangwa and Ongwediva, which often become very crowded with people returning back home from all corners of the country to enjoy Christmas with their families. Sakaria said 64 people were arrested in Oshana for driving under the influence of alcohol during the festive season and tickets worth N$1 885 925 were issued to 1 924 traffic law violators.
Fewer recorded cases
Sakaria also pointed out that this was a festive season with fewer serious criminal cases compared to previous ones.
“Few housebreaking cases were reported, especially for properties that were left unattended when people went for holidays,” he said.
He added that most of the cases were recorded in Ondangwa and the surrounding areas.
“The law enforcement officials had the situation under control with boots on the ground and support from headquarters. We are now looking forward for holidaymakers to return to their workplaces,” he said.
