Bloody weekend
The weekend was marred by violent crimes and incidents, according to a Namibian Police report.
In Windhoek’s Wanaheda, 20-year-old Salomo Neyonga Valombola died by suicide. His body was found in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound to his head.
"It is reported that the deceased's cousin, who lives with him, was woken by the sound of a gunshot, and noticed that the deceased was not in his room,” police said.
No suicide note was found, and no foul play is suspected. Investigations continue.
In Engoyi village in the Oshikoto Region, the remains of Sakaria Mukweyo (39) were found after he was run over by a train. He had reportedly been lying with his head on the rails. His remains were transported to the Onandjokwe State Hospital for an autopsy.
Also in Oshikoto, a 10-year-old girl was raped by a 20-year-old man in Okaluwa village.
"The suspect caught up with the victim and her friend on their way home from school, chased them and managed to get hold of the victim.
“The suspect pulled the victim into the nearest bushes, undressed her, laid her on the ground, raped and beat her afterward.”
The man has been arrested and will appear in the Ondangwa Magistrate's Court today.
Stabbed to death over food
In Okahandja’s Nau-Aib location, Sebedeus Davis (34) died instantly after he was stabbed by his 40-year-old girlfriend.
"It is reported that the deceased and the suspect argued over food. The deceased took a wooden plank and hit the suspect while demanding food. While preparing food for the victim, the suspect took a knife and stabbed him once. The victim fell and died instantly,” police said.
The suspect handed herself over to police and was arrested. She will appear in the Okahandja Magistrate’s Court today.
Meanwhile, a man was discovered lying in a pool of blood in Swakopmund’s Mondesa.
He was rushed to the hospital, but was declared dead upon arrival.
A suspect, who was drunk at the time, was found at a house close to the scene and admitted that he stabbed the deceased with a knife, police said.
