Angula eyes 2024 Paralympic Games

Namibia's Mateus Angula has his eyes set on qualifying for next year's Paralympic Games.
Namibian para-swimmer Mateus ‘Spiderman’ Angula will compete in the week-long Manchester 2023 Allianz Para Swimming World Championships, which began yesterday.
The competition is taking place at the Manchester Aquatics Centre until 6 August.
The 11th edition of the Para Swimming Worlds will bring together 538 athletes from 67 countries.
It is the third time the competition is taking place in Great Britain, following Glasgow 2015 and London 2019.
Working hard
Namibia is represented by Angula as he attempts to qualify for the Paralympic Games in Paris next year. Angula will compete in the men’s 50m freestyle.
Angula, who is coached by Sonia Lindemeier, achieved a personal-best record at the France 2023 World Series held in Limoges in May. This competition not only pushed him into competing in the 400-metre freestyle, where he took fifth place with a personal best time of 08:02.83. Angula also competes in the 100m. Coach Lindemeier has stated that the swimmer's mark is to swim under one minute, 40 seconds in the 100-metre freestyle.
