Eagles have a date with Chevrons
Five T20Is kickstart today
More than three months since their last taste of international cricket, Namibia and Zimbabwe will shift their focus to five Twenty20 Internationals in what promises to be edge-of-the-seat games at Wanderers and United Sports Ground, starting today at 14:00.
Cricket Namibia welcomes test nation Zimbabwe for the first time to compete in the highly-anticipated Castle Lite Series, starting today till 30 October.
The series will set the stage for an electrifying tournament between the Eagles and the Chevrons, Zimbabwe’s national men’s team.
The Eagles’ last encounter with the Chevrons in 2022 at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo was a gripping series in which the Eagles soared high, clinching a 3-2 victory.
This competition will also serve as preparation for the International Cricket Council Men’s T-20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by West Indies and United States of America.
The Wanderers and United Sports Grounds in Windhoek will be the venues where Namibia and Zimbabwe are among seven countries vying for two golden tickets to the grand stage of the T20 World Cup in 2024.
Namibian squad: Gerhard Erasmus (captain), JJ Smit (vice-captain), Nico Davin, Zane Green, Michael van Lingen, Jan Frylinck, Ben Shikongo, Nicol Loftie-Eaton, Shaun Fouche, Bernard Scholtz, Tangeni Lungameni, JP Kotze, Karl Birkenstock, Handre Klazinga and Malan Kruger.
