Brahman bull stolen, slaughtered at Rooibank
Four men - all aged between 19 and 23 - have been arrested in connection with the theft of one Brahman bull, and were set to appear before the Walvis Bay Magistrate’s Court on Friday. The bull is valued at N$26 000.
According to a report issued by Namibian Police warrant officer Tuyenikelao Tashiya, the suspects stole the bull from a grazing area at Rooibank in the district of Walvis Bay, slaughtered it and removed the meat from the crime scene, leaving only intestines behind.
She added that community members should report incidents of stock theft as soon as they have any information.
“We recovered a whole carcass cut into pieces. We further urge the community to refrain from withdrawing stock theft cases as doing so not only wastes police resources, but also motivates culprits to commit the same crime.”
Farmers are advised to brand their stock for identification within six months of birth.
Anyone with stock theft-related information can contact Detective Chief Inspector Jeffrey Urib at 081 439 2687 or Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu at 081 246 4757.
