State drops case against Ngalangi

STAFF REPORTER
The State has withdrawn its court case against former Fishcor general manager Paulus Ngalangi, who was accused of picking up alleged Phala Phala theft mastermind Immanuel David from the border, after he illegally entered Namibia from South Africa via a canoe across the Orange River.

The State has also withdrawn its case against police sergeant Hendrick Nghede, who was accused of helping David travel to Windhoek, alongside Ngalangi.

The two-day trial was scheduled to kick off today in Noordoewer, but the State dropped a bombshell when its prosecutors indicated that they will no longer proceed with the matter.

Ngalangi’s lawyer Vetumbuavi Uanivi said: “We are not happy with the withdrawal because my client was looking forward to having his day in court to prove his innocence, but we have to respect the court’s decision to not proceed with the matter".
