Rape, child trafficking case postponed again
News in short
A case involving a Russian citizen and his Namibian co-accused - who are on trial for several charges of rape and child trafficking - was delayed once again yesterday.
Alexander Krylov and Anna Katrina Engelbrecht’s legal representative was due to deliver closing arguments before the verdict yesterday, but the matter was postponed until tomorrow.
This after judge Claudia Claasen, during a previous court appearance on 22 August, adjourned the case until yesterday because court records had not yet been fully transcribed.
The reason for yesterday's postponement was that Krylov and Engelbrecht's representative was ill and therefore did not submit his arguments in time.
Krylov, a former marine pilot, allegedly had sexual intercourse with five underage girls at his apartment in Swakopmund in 2017. The State claims Engelbrecht delivered the girls, who were between 15 and 16, to Krylov.
