JUST IN: Judgment in Conradie's application for acquittal postponed
Judgment in an application brought by the former chairman of MTC and well-known Windhoek lawyer, Dirk Conradie, to be acquitted from the corruption charges he is facing was postponed to 17 September.
The application was brought after the state closed their case in the trial against Conradie and his co-accused, Sara Damases.
The case was made by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in 2012 and is related to allegations of corruption, conspiracy to commit corruption and, in Conradie's case, abuse of his position of power.
Conradie and Damases allegedly tried to convince the owners of an advertising company to appoint Damases as a black empowerment partner. This company tendered for a N$60 million MTC advertising account and Conradie allegedly said he would sway a key decision-maker in the voting process so they could secure the contract.
