JUST IN: ‘It wasn’t me’
Former fisheries minister Bernhardt Esau told the court this morning that he did not unilaterally changed the Marine Resources Act, but that this review was started by the fisheries staff and stakeholders in the industry.
He also referred to a two-day workshop on the Marine Resources Act review and that a committee was set up for this.

Esau said a request was sent from the fisheries ministry office to the Law Reform and Development Commission, then headed by his co-accused, Sackey Shangala, to present submissions on the amendment of the Marine Resources Act. This request however gathered dust, said Esau.
