FRIENDS IN WARFARE: The Namibian and Brazilian navies this week participated in joint operational exercises off the coast of Namibia as part of the visit of Brazilian warship ‘Defensora’, to mark 30 years of bilateral naval cooperation between the two nations.
During the operations, in Namibian jurisdictional waters, the Defensora and the Namibian ship ‘Elephant’ met at a pre-determined location off the coast of Walvis Bay and carried out tactical manoeuvre exercises, including the leap frog, when the vessels approach each other and sail in parallel at the same course and speed, to establish a cable connection for the transfer of supplies and personnel at sea. After the manoeuvres, the ships headed to the port of Walvis Bay, where they docked on Tuesday morning. PHOTOS: CONTRIBUTED
