The Swakopmund State Hospital is the latest beneficiary of an endoscopy machine, donated by Debmarine Namibia.

Receiving the handover on behalf of the hospital yesterday, health minister Dr Kalumbi Shangula expressed his appreciation towards Debmarine.

He said the donation - valued at N$1.2 million - will strengthen the provision of surgical care by making it possible to provide reliable and timely diagnostic and interventional endoscopic procedures.

“This will significantly improve health outcomes. I am pleased to note that the endoscopy equipment will also be used in the training of approximately 40 medical interns at the Swakopmund district hospital."

According to Debmarine CEO Willy Mertens, the company's ultimate goal is to help address socio-economic challenges and to make a positive impact.

"We firmly believe that a healthy nation is a prosperous nation."
