SHORT: Namibia presses ahead with National Human Rights Action Plan
Cabinet has officially recognized a report that outlines the framework for reviewing the country's first National Human Rights Action Plan (NHRAP), which was in effect from 2015 to 2019.
To ensure a thorough review and the creation of a new action plan, all government offices, ministries and agencies have been instructed to actively participate in the process. This collaborative approach aims to enhance stakeholder involvement and address various human rights issues comprehensively.
Additionally, Cabinet has also approved the inclusion of submissions from the ombudsman in the discussions at the upcoming executive directors’ meeting. This move is essential for developing a coordinated response to the review and development of the NHRAP.
Government says the ongoing review and development of Namibia's National Human Rights Action Plan demonstrate the government's commitment to promoting and protecting human rights. By encouraging stakeholder engagement and evaluating resource needs, Cabinet aims to strengthen the impact of human rights initiatives across the nation.
