Mbumba back in Namibia
NEWS IN SHORT
President Nangolo Mbumba returned on Sunday from a visit to Germany and Spain, where he advocated for a review of the global financial architecture to better meet the needs of developing countries, particularly in the Global South.
Mbumba made these calls during a working visit to Germany, where he attended the Hamburg Sustainability Conference (HSC) and held bilateral talks with Chancellor Olaf Scholz and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
During his visit, Mbumba discussed the Joint Declaration on Genocide, saying: “Namibia and Germany share a painful past, and there is a need to resolve the genocide issue in the interest of the affected Herero and Nama communities in particular, and Namibians in general.”
Next, the president met with King Felipe of Spain, where he encouraged increased economic cooperation between Namibia and Spain, among other discussions.
