Just in: Musical chairs stun PDM
Former chief whip of the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) Vipua Muharukua and party member Inna Hengari have been removed as members of the the Parliamentary Committee on Standing Rules and Orders and Internal Arrangements.
National Assembly Speaker Peter Katjavivi this afternoon informed Parliament that this move was on the instruction of the party’s new chief whip, Elma Dienda.
Muharukua was also unceremoniously removed as the party chief whip a fortnight ago after he pledged his support of Mika Kavekotorua as the Paramount Chief of the Ovaherero community.
Kavekotorua stood against McHenry Venaani and Hoze Riruako, the latter who has in the meantime been elected as the PC.
Muharukua was quoted as saying: “A divided Ovaherero community needs Kavekotora to unite them. He will not sell out the Ovaherero."
