Chevening list is confidential - British High Commission
The British High Commission has declined a request to provide a full list of applications for the Chevening Scholarships, following public outrage over the alleged dominance of Oshiwambo-speaking recipients in the programme.
"Unfortunately, that goes against policy and data protection. If you go on the Chevening website, it is clear that we safeguard all data shared with us and will not share it with any third-party entities.”
The British High Commission in Windhoek says the 2023–2024 Chevening Scholarship recipients from Namibia are chosen on merit.
“Selection is solely based on an applicant’s qualifications and merit,” the High Commission noted.
