Kweku Schimming-Chase: Game ranger
A game ranger is responsible for the management of a game reserve. They work with ecologists as well as game reserve and wildlife managers. Their tasks are multi-faceted and include ensuring the day-to-day health and well-being of game, research and monitoring, game capture and introductions, population management, burning programmes, infrastructure and equipment maintenance, public relations, environmental education, and, crucially, local community relations, liaison and involvement.

“You would need to do a national diploma in nature conservation or game ranch management. Most are three years long - two years of theory and one year practical,” he said.
