Guillermo Delgado: Architect
A person who plans, designs and supervises the construction of buildings is known as an architect. Architecture enables a broad array of possibilities for professional engagement; the key is pushing these actively as the environment tends to ‘box’ people in regarding conventional understandings of what each profession is supposed to do, according to Guillermo Delgado.
“I’m an architect, but I’ve operated in academic and cultural platforms for the past 15 years. These platforms provided with flexibility to explore questions around urbanisation, design and other aspects that influence the production of space. Through these, I’ve been able to work on exhibitions, workshops, publications, research projects and policy.”
Delgado regards becoming an architect as the first step that led to many more opportunities to work on various projects, and frequently to start new ones.
