The FNB Women's Super League record was broken over the weekend by Beauties FC’s Fiola Fliete, who set a new unofficial record of 34 goals, breaking Anna Marie Shikusho’s league-goal record of 29.
Fliete scored the goals on Sunday in what was a field day for the Beauties, who thrashed Omaheke Queens 26-0.
The hardworking striker received praise from Michael Uugwanga, a local sports reporter, who said he has been following the player's success. "She has transitioned from a goalkeeper to a great striker, "he said.
Lucky goals
In one of the matches on Saturday, Girls & Goals' Beverly Ueziua scored a brace for the side as they beat V-Power Angels 3-0.
"I scored two goals by luck, and I’m happy. I want to be in the top-five best goal scorers. I don’t have many goals at the moment, but I’m trying my best," she said.
The Arrows Ladies defeated the Rightway Phoenixes 4-1. Arrows top scorer Jekohasana Kamatjipose, who has so far scored 17 goals, said she wants more.
