First Lady launches #BeFree Youth Concert

The concert will showcase a line-up of exceptional local talent.
First Lady Monica Geingos has officially launched the highly anticipated #BeFree Youth Concert, set to take place on 1 September at the Katutura Independence Arena. Coinciding with the construction of the #BeFree Centre of Excellence at the same location, the event promises to provide a fun-filled experience for individuals of all age groups.
During the launch, Geingos expressed her excitement and emphasised the importance of parental involvement. She encouraged parents to join in the festivities and have fun with their children, promoting a bonding experience within the family unit.
"Some of you are bumping into your parents at nightclubs, so here at least it will be allowed," Geingos joked.
Focused on the youth
Geingos said the concert will serve as a substitute for the annual One Economy gala dinner, highlighting the foundation's emphasis on young Namibians.
"Instead of having a big gala dinner at a hotel, we will be having this with young people. The financial ecosystem that One Economy has created is such that if we have expenses, we consciously try to spend the money through young people," Geingos explained.
Exciting show
The concert will showcase a line-up of exceptional local talent, including popular Namibian amapiano artist Azmo Nawe, DJ Vuyo, Adora, Tswazis, TKB, and more. Attendees at the launch were treated to captivating performances by Azmo Nawe and local poet Officially_Poetic.
Additionally, Geingos announced that phase one of the #BeFree Centre of Excellence will be inaugurated on the day of the concert.
Geingos said the Katutura Independence Arena will not only be refurbished for the event but will also serve as an alternative entertainment destination for locals after the concert, as it forms an integral part of the #BeFree Centre of Excellence.
